Who we are

XCR is the newest project of Koyama Enterprises LLC, doing business as PDX Defense. I’m Weston Koyama—a fourth-generation Japanese American, public defense attorney, programmer, and relentless believer in due-process rights. My family’s history of wartime incarceration taught me early that the government’s power must always be met with informed, principled resistance. That lesson became the through-line of my career in Oregon’s trial courts and now in the software I build.

I created XCR because I kept watching lawyers (and far too many self-represented defendants) drown in paperwork and sentencing math that should have been automated long ago. With a background in computer repair and decades of tinkering, I knew I could merge modern AI with defender-specific legal knowledge to give defenders instant clarity—without the sticker shock of national “big-law” tools.

Every line of code in XCR is written with the same pledge I give my clients: safeguard privacy, respect the Constitution, and fight for the fair treatment every person deserves. Whether you are a public defender, a private practitioner, or someone forced to stand alone against the state, XCR exists to give you an edge that is affordable, secure, and laser-focused on defender law.
